How Does It Work?
- Submit either an original code sample, tech tip, or article with content that is related to Sun technology and/or products.
- Earn SDN Share Points on your submission. Points can be earned in two ways:
- Via the type of submitted content (Tech tips, code samples, and articles); and
- From the number of positive community votes the submitted content receives. The community verifies your content by voting on your submission.
- SDN Share Points for submitted content are pending for 30 days to allow for voting and comments. Points are placed in the member's account but can be removed if content is found to be plagiarized, malicious, or technically incorrect during the 30 day vesting period.
- When you accumulate enough SDN Share Points, you can redeem them for Amazon gift certificates.
- Only SDN members can submit content, earn SDN Share Points, and vote. Everyone, however, can view the content.
- If you wish to submit System Administration content, please submit your post to the Big Admin Bucks program.
Earning SDN Share Points
- Individuals may participate in the program by submitting content that qualifies for the SDN Share program, which is defined below. The Participants must agree to the program terms at the time of submission.
The Participants (see definition and eligibility requirements below) must provide their email address during each submission, and this is the identifier by which the SDN Share Points will accumulate.
If any information provided by a Participant changes, the Participant must notify Sun by notifying us via the feedback form.
-
The Program will reward users for accepted submissions with SDN Share Points that can be redeemed for Rewards. For every accepted submission, SDN Share Points will be accumulated as follows:
| |
Tech tip | 2 points |
Code sample | 4 points |
Article | 10 points |
Positive Community vote | .25 points per vote, up to the maximum point level |
|
- SDN Share Points from Community Votes: You can also receive SDN Share Points based on the number of positive community votes the submission receives within 30 days after the submission is posted. Each positive vote is worth one quarter of one point, but the total number of Points awarded by community vote can not exceed 1 times the Points that were earned by submission. For example, a tech tip that received 8 positive votes would receive 2 Points, but a tech tip that received 25 positive votes would still only receive 2 Points, because it reached the maximum number of voting based Points allowed for that submission.
- A member can only vote once for each submission. Comments are unlimited.
- Maximum Point Limit: 75 SDN Share Points is the limit that one person can accumulate in any one month period. Participants may continue to submit content once their limit has been reached, but no Points will be rewarded on the additional content submitted.
- Each Participant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of his/her Account. Participants are encouraged to check their Accounts to ensure that the correct number of SDN Share Points have been accrued to their Accounts.
- The SDN Share administrator will ultimately determine which category (code sample, tech tip, or article) the accepted submission falls into. The SDN Share administrator also reserves the right to edit your submitted material.
- If a Participant believes that SDN Share Points were not properly accrued to his/her Account, the Participant must notify Sun by notifying us via the feedback form.
